Why your tire shine isn't lasting as long as it should 🏁

Have you tried a bunch of tire dressing products and been underwhelmed by how long they last?

Chances are, it's not the product's fault.

This is a mistake that I see a lot of car enthusiasts make - you're probably skipping an important step.

You have to clean your tires properly before you apply a dressing.

Can you imagine waxing your paint without washing your car first? The wax would just stick to the dirt (let's just ignore the fact that it would scratch the crap out of your paint, too lol)

If you keep stacking layers of tire shine on top of each other, as well as any dirt and grime they've picked up, it's not going to last very long.

You need to remove all of that stuff to get down to the bare rubber, and THAT'S what your dressing should stick to.

So, how do you clean your tires properly?

Well, it depends on your process for washing your wheels.

If you spray a wheel cleaner on them that's also intended to clean tires, you can just scrub them with a brush while the whole wheel is foamed up.

If you need to clean them separately, there are tire-specific cleaners available. I've tried some and they work pretty well.

The other option is to use a degreaser... I tend to grab a bottle of Meguiar's Super Degreaser when I do it since it's so handy for other uses as well.

Whichever cleaner you choose, scrub it with a brush and pay attention to the color of the suds.

If they're yellow or brown, that's the gunk coming off your tire. Don't stop there, though - rinse them and clean them again until the suds are white. That's how you know they're properly cleaned.

I've seen some extreme cases where layers of old tire shine had to be scraped off with a razor blade. Hopefully yours aren't that bad!

Give this a shot and see if your product of choice performs better.

I've been following along with Dustin Williams' NSX project, and according to my friend who saw it at SEMA, the car is indeed built right.

He's been working with Science of Speed (super popular in the NSX community) to rebuild the engine and add a supercharger.

They've been getting lots of publicity in his vids, but when he picked the car up from the shop, it broke down almost right away.

No big deal, just bring it back, right? Nope. They locked the doors as soon as he left. 😂

According to Dustin, having the car break down was "Literally the worst feeling in the world". Might not want to say that to the parent of a kid with cancer, you privileged dork.

He's been one of the fastest growing automotive creators and certainly a love-or-hate personality.

Well, you can file the IRS under the "hate" category. They arrested him for tax evasion with the purchase of his Ferrari F8 (which he bought specifically to destroy on his channel).

Looks like they're going after him for using the Montana registration tax loophole.

I guess the IRS doesn't like people gaming the system. In other shocking news, Frosty the Snowman doesn't like warm weather.

A diesel Skoda broke the fuel economy world record

From Poland to Paris on one tank of fuel. That's 1,759 miles on a tank, or 108.2 MPG.

Crazy stuff, and also, does this mean we can chill out with the EV stuff now?

Why automakers replaced parking brakes with electric ones

Apparently, "because they want to ruin everything" isn't the right answer.

It's because the cables stretch, seize, and take up too much space... and also because people who are the product of Soft Parenting aren't strong enough to pull a manual handle 🤣.
