Why you keep getting streaks (And how to fix it) 🏁
One of the biggest complaints people have about spray waxes or sealants is that they leave streaks behind.
Believe me, I've dealt with this too. But before you write off a product as "no good", here are 2 things to try:
1. Use less of it
In most cases, this is the cause of the problem.
Whether it's a ceramic spray or a drying aid, you don't need more than 1 or 2 sprays per panel.
Using more than that will oversaturate both the surface and your towel, and you'll end up wiping it back and forth until you go crazy.
Every time I see someone on YouTube pumping a bunch of product on a car, my mind is blown - because every time I do it, I end up with tons of streaks.
2. Use 2 towels
Recently, I've run into streaking issues while testing out Gtechniq's new C2V4.
I tried applying it sparingly, and it still didn't work.
Here's what fixed it:
The directions on the bottle say to apply it with one towel, then do a final buff with a separate towel.
So I tried it, and it worked! (Lesson here: just follow the directions, people 🤣)
Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure most product manufacturers recommend this - I'm just able to get away with ignoring it, usually.
Not this time.
So if you find yourself chasing streaks with a wax, sealant, or drying aid, try using less product first, and if that doesn't help, break out a 2nd towel.
Let the first one get wet and be saturated with product, while the 2nd stays dry.
You can even name your dry towel The Streak Killa if it makes you feel better.
